Angel stood on top of one of the many sand dunes and glanced at the land laid out in front of her. It was such a change from what she was used to, her head drooped as memories came flooding back to engulf her like a tidal wave. No, she had to stop acting like this! She couldn't change the past but she could make good use of the present. She nickered joyfully at the thought of galloping the miles of land stretched out before her. Her body tensed in anticipation, a sudden wave of adrenalin passed over her and she shot forward as if being released from the starting gate at the race track. Her muscles rippled underneath her golden pelt as she pushed herself faster, the sand she kicked up around her obstructed her vision which only encouraged her to quicken her pace. The sun beat down her producing a fresh glistening layer of sweat on her pelt, but she didn't care, she loved the sun. Her hooves pounded the sand beneath her rhythmically as the wind tossed her mane around her, seemingly teasing her, encouraging her, to go faster.

Aris ran through the sand covered lands. He looked into the horizon and the sun hurt his eyes. Turning his head to block the sun all he saw was more sand. The sand felt hot against his four hooves but it felt good. Aris was just kicked out of his original herd. He knew that it was going to happen sooner or later. His father was leader of his herd and Aris admired his father. Aris always hoped that he would once be just as good as him. Aris walked in the opposite direction of the sun so that it wasn't beating in his face. Aris could see his shadow underneath him. Aris wasn't sure if he would find any kind of life in this desert but he kept on walking. Aris had to find water if he wished to live to see his own herd. Looking into the horizon, through the faint shimmer the heat gave off on the sand, Aris saw an animal. Aris galloped over to the animal. Just as he reached the top of the hill, the animal vanished. But instead of seeing an animal, Aris found water. His mouth parched just looking at it. Trotting, tail and head held high, Aris made his way to the water. When he got there he went knee deep in the water and drank til he could drink no more. First thing accomplished, now to time to find myself a fae. Aris told himself.

As Angel kept pushing herself faster her breath became heavier and she knew she would have to slow down to catch her breath. She smiled to herself at the thought of her new life, galloping over miles of innovative land. Reluctantly she began slowing down her pace until she was walking comfortably with her head lowered in fatigue. Many would think she was crazy galloping until she was out of breath, resting and then galloping again, but she loved it. The feeling of her hooves pounding the ground in unison, the way the wind thrashed her mane around her, engulfing her in a sea of silky waves and the way the sun beat down creating a thin layer of sweat on her ivory-golden pelt. However, one thing she would never do was run in the rain, she hated the rain, infact she hated water. It's not that she wouldn't drink it - she loved the feeling of the cool, refreshing water sliding down her throat after a long run. Nonetheless she was deathly scared of water, she always had been and she always would be. Angel threw her head back and gave a playful whinny, to most it seemed this mare was never depleted of energy. As she continued forward her flared nostrils burned with the scent of another horse. Angel froze and studied the land in front of her until she spotted a buckskin colored stallion. Angel watched as the stallion quenched his thirst and continued on his way. She didn't like the idea of disturbing this magnificent beast so she froze in place, wondering what his next move would be.

Aris just stood in the water, letting his legs soak up the nice coldness. Then in the distance something made his ear twitch to his rear. It sounded like a whinny. Couldn't possibly be you are going nuts Aris. Aris shook his head, making his mane and furlock shake as well. Aris started walking to the other side of the little pond (which wasn't more then knee deep) when a scent filled his nostrils. Can it be? Aris asked himself. Aris then turned his head and there was when he saw her. The most beautiful fae he had ever seen. He could tell that she had some Arabian breed in her but could not tell the other part. She had a beautiful gold mane with a white and tan pellet. Aris reared in the water and started splashing around. He was so excited that he found a fae but yet the most beautiful fae he had ever seen. After splashing in the water Aris ran to be next to her. About half way he stopped in his tracks. Your going to scare her. Aris had to think. He then walked slowly and stopped within 10 feet infront of her. "Hello good fae. My name is Aris. May I have the honor of knowing your name?" Aris stood anxiously waiting for a reply.

Angel's legs froze in horror as the stallion came galloping toward her. She had no idea what the stallion's goal was and had no intention of staying around to find out. Angel threw her head up toward the sky, this time not in playfulness but fear, as her eyes rolled revealing pearly whites. Just as she tensed her legs in anticipation to flee the stallion slowed to a sudden walk. Stopping 10 feet infront of her he began talking, "Hello good fae. My name is Aris. May I have the honor of knowing your name?" As the velvety words of this handsome stallion reached her ears she seemed quite content. Her legs relaxed and she lowered her head allowing her long golden forelock to partially hide one of her innocent brown eyes. Angel was still nervous, the only male horses she had ever come to know where geldings from her life with humans, she had never met a stallion face to face let alone a wild one. She drooped her head lower allowing it to stop just inches off the ground, she wasn't sure how to show this stallion that she knew he was in control but this seemed to suffice for now. With that she backed up few steps, nervous of being so close to such a powerful steed. Her response to his question was almost a whisper, "My name is Angel...sir." The sentence seemed rather awkward after it escaped her lips, for she was unsure of how to address a stallion and felt obliged to add some word that resembled the power this steed reflected. Her breathing was still heavy from her recent gallop and as she stood there her sides heaved in and out dramatically. She glanced over the stallions entire body before fixing her gaze on the ground. She froze, not daring to move from her current position, fearing the stallion would be angered if she did.

Aris saw the mare relax just a little after rearing. Her forelock covered one of her beautiful brown eyes. She then backed up a little. She seemed a little uneasy around Aris. Maybe she hasn't been with a stallion before? He then saw the fae drop her head close to the ground and talk. He could barely hear what she said to him. "Angel. That name suits you well my dear." And indeed it did. This fae was an angel. He then heard her call him sir. "Please Angel, sir is so formal and sounds controlling. Just call me Aris. SO what is a beautiful mare like you walking around in this harsh place by yourself? You must have a herd of your own, do you not?" Aris hoped that he didn't push his luck too far with asking so many questions. Aris just had the urge to rear in excitement but he controlled it. OOC: sorry for short post

The sea of sand upon which she stood began to feel hot against her hooves. Gently she raised each one slightly off the soft sand and placed them down again elsewhere. It seemed as if the mare was attempting to inch away from the stallion, but as the Stallions words reacher her pert ears she stopped. "Angel. That name suits you well my dear."She took a chance and glanced up at the stallion, making sure not to catch his eyes. He definitely was quite a sight, she was sure he probably had a herd full of beautiful mares to go home to. So as she listened to Ari's next sentence she paused for a second to think. Of course she didn't have a herd to go to, she hadn't met or even seen another horse for weeks. Ever since she was abandoned like that. Stop it Angel thought to herself, being wild was the best thing that had ever happened to her. She didn't want to go back to a herd full of beautiful mares who would pick on her. Who wouldn't? Angel definitely did not think she was pretty at all, and she had the most ridiculous fears - who was scared of water?! Suddenly realizing she had not answered the stallions question she lifted her head slightly and continued, "No, I do not have any herd to go to, I haven't met another horse for a long time." The thin layer of sweat on her pelt glistened as the suns rays reflected off of it. She did not dare say another word until the powerful steed in front of her intended her to.

Aris heard the words that escaped the mare's lips. She said that she had no herd to go to and that she hadn't met another horse in a long time. "I am sorry to hear that my dear. As myself I also have no herd to go to. I was just kicked out of my father's herd because I was getting older. Old enough to find a herd of my own." Aris watched as Angel moved her hooves around on the hot sand. "The sand is hot under the high sun, let us move to the water whole that I found and we can cool down our hooves. The watering whole is only about knee high and is very cool in this heat." Aris turned around and started walking towards the watering whole. He twitched his ear to hear that she was following him, but he heard nothing. Aris turned his head, "Are you coming Angel?" Aris asked? Aris was hoping that she would go with him.

Just as Angel was becoming more comfortable in the presence of the stallion he invited her to go down to the watering hole. She froze in fear as images of the cool, Serene liquid surrounded her thoughts. Her breaths came in shorter heaves and all her muscles tensed. It took her a good minute to calm herself down enough to even hear what the stallion was saying. "Are you coming Angel?"Angel forced her front leg to inch forward, just as her hoof touched the ground she inched the other forward. What was she doing?! This was ridiculous, she wasn't even at the waters edge yet and she was letting her fears get the better of her. Being with Ari seemed to make her on edge as well, after all she had never met a stallion before and the stories she had been told were not always comforting. Angel stopped and breathed in the fresh air, calming down as the oxygen circulated her body. The wind began to pick up and blew her main around her face, seemingly creating a protective frame. She glanced up at the stallion who was staring back at her, he probably thought she was crazy now. Angel pushed the thought out of her head and walked on, following the stallion across the sand.

Aris was first confused. Angel just stood there. Did he do something wrong? Then he saw her force her hooves to move. Aris wasn't to sure what to do or what to say. Now, the sun was lowering a little bit in the sky. It was about an hours time after its highest peak in the sky. "Is there something wrong Angle?" Aris asked in a concern voice. Aris walked up to Angel and looked right into her eyes. He could tell that she was scared of something, but what could it be? Aris gently rubbed his head up and down her neck to comfort her. "Angle there is nothing to be worried about. I won't let anything happen to you. I promise." When he promised something Aris always kept that promise. Aris then walked around Angle and ended up on the other side of her. He was standing parallel with her, "Come on. Its hot and I bet you need some water." Aris stood there, hoping that Angle would go with him.

Angel felt beads of sweat slowly roll down her face as she watched the stallion turn around and walk up to her. She fought a shiver as he gazed right into her eyes, Aris was quite the handsome stallion but his powerful essence scared her a little. The thought that such a magnificent steed could be concerned about a mare like herself touched her. What Aris did next made Angel freeze where she stood - he rubbed his neck along hers. Never had she been shown concern like this from another horse and she had to admit she enjoyed it. What am I doing? Angel thought to herself, why was she standing there frozen in fear when she knew this stallion would protect her? A sudden wave of relief flooded over her as the stallions words met her ears. She let out a soft nicker to show her appreciation and immediately her body relaxed. She gently shook her head to reveal both of her innocent brown eyes. As the sun was swallowed by a sea of sand its final rays reflected off of her ivory-golden pelt, giving off the appearance that she was glowing.
